Walkers B&B Accommodation for up to 3
Dufton Walkers Haven
Nestling at the foot of High Cup Nick and Cross Fell, the Pennine Potting Shed at Dufton Barn Holidays is the perfect place to stop and recharge for the night ready for the next leg of your Pennine Way journey, or to stay a few nights and explore the beautiful Eden Valley.
This cosy former potting shed, originally built in 1882 from thick
Lazonby sandstone, is in a secluded part of our garden and is accredited a Glamping Gold Award with VisitEngland. Now extended and modernised you have an adult sized bunk bed with 6″ memory foam mattress and a separate sofa bed. Also a log burner so that you can warm your bones and dry your clothes, plus a boot warmer to dry your boots. You have your own en suite shower and toilet and also a cooking preparation area with hob, sink and combi-microwave. Outside you have your own enclosed garden courtyard during your stay.
We include a continental breakfast for the first night of any length of stay (selection of cereals, yogurt, fruit, loaf of bread, cheese, tuna, tomato, crisps OJ and milk), as well as staples like tea, coffee, milk, sugar, butter and preserves. All items will be left in the property prior to your arrival, which enables you to set off the next day at a time to suit you, and there should be enough provisions for both breakfast and making up a packed lunch. As there is no shop in the village, we also have a tuck box in the Potting Shed selling a small range of snacks, ready meals, and drinks.
We are also a short 2 minute walk from the Stag Inn pub in Dufton (pre-booking essential for dinner – no food on Mondays, although Micky’s Pizza is usually in the Stag car park on most Monday nights during the summer season).
1 small/medium sized dog fully house trained (no puppies). Please see our Doggy Rules for the Potting Shed for further information.
The Pennine Potting Shed is also perfect for longer stays and has safe cycle storage for those wanting to explore the quiet lanes of the Eden Valley on their bikes.
Meanwhile for more information on the Pennine Way Trail please click the link. Baggage services are also available via Brigantes and Sherpa.
Please see below for comments from our guests and as a specific recommendation we are grateful to our guest Jen from Forcett who stayed with us in early February 2023 for summing up so succinctly what we aim to offer in the Potting Shed.
“Filthy trip over Cross Fell, followed by the most blissful accommodation. I could live here! To echo so many comments made previously, the attention to detail and taste, is supreme. I’ve dried kit, got warm, nibbled, supped, smiled a lot, eaten and drank at the pub (also top drawer) and felt so content & cosy here. What a gem. Thank you both.xx”

I must also say what a fabulous little village Dufton is, and the Stag Inn was a delight.”
